Bring your Brentwood home to life after dark.
Brentwood has a small-town feel inside one of the most central locations in St. Louis County. The city was originally called Maddenville — named after a prominent businessman who ran a grocery store, barbershop, rock quarry, and blacksmith shop along what’s now Brentwood Boulevard — and the area later grew into the bustling residential community we know today. Brentwood still celebrates that history with the annual Maddenfest festival every September, complete with live performances, local food, free carnival rides, and a capstone fireworks display.Â
What makes Brentwood such a great landscape-lighting market is the combination of traditional architecture and walkable community character. The city’s residential neighborhoods feature beautiful brick-front homes set back from quiet, tree-lined lanes. Many homes are well-maintained traditional 2-stories, Cape Cods, and brick Tudors from the early-to-mid 20th century. The Brentwood School District is consistently ranked in Missouri’s top 5, with Mark Twain Elementary holding a Blue Ribbon designation — which is part of why Brentwood attracts families looking for a “private school feel within a public system.”Â
Brentwood is also part of what’s known as the Mid-County Trifecta — Brentwood, Richmond Heights, and Maplewood — three connected inner-ring suburbs that offer direct MetroLink access to the Central West End and downtown. That central position gives Brentwood a more urban feel than further-west suburbs while retaining the established residential character that makes the city so appealing. The Brentwood Promenade shopping center is right at the heart of the city.Â
Whether you’re in a brick traditional near Brentwood Park, off Brentwood Boulevard, near Mark Twain Elementary, or anywhere on Brentwood’s quiet tree-lined lanes, we’d love to walk your property and design something custom.
Here’s what we design and install across the area:
Smaller backyards become the primary living space here, where patio lighting carries most of the design.
Overhead string installs work especially well on Brentwood's compact, enclosed backyards.
Bungalow porches and dormers reward focused, restrained facade accents over heavy uplighting.
Brentwood is an inner-ring market with smaller lots, walkable streets, and significant tear-down/infill activity. Projects here are usually compact in scope but high in design detail — homeowners care about getting it right rather than going big. Permitting and HOA-style review can come into play on some streets; designs should be tidy and unobtrusive from the public side.
Most Brentwood homes are traditional brick architecture — brick fronts, classical details, symmetrical façades. We use warm color temperatures (2700K) that flatter brick and stone, matched fixture pairs flanking entries, and balanced placements that complement the symmetry of traditional homes.
Brentwood's walkability means your lighting is seen by neighbors strolling by, not just passing cars. We design glare-free lighting that looks intentional from sidewalk view, balanced placements that read well at pedestrian distance, and warm color temperatures that fit the established residential character.
Brentwood lots are generally smaller and more urban than further-west suburbs. We use precisely-aimed fixtures, lower-output options where appropriate, and design choices that don't spill light onto neighboring properties or overwhelm small front yards.
Brentwood has a strong tight-knit residential character — neighbors know each other, the Maddenfest festival brings the whole city out, and good lighting on one home enhances the block. Our designs respect that community feel. The goal is for your house to look beautifully lit in a way that fits the street, not in a way that stands out from it.
Why Brentwood homeowners hire us for their brick-front homes and tight-knit streets
Most Brentwood homes are brick — brick traditional, brick Tudors, brick Cape Cods. We use warm 2700K color temperatures that flatter brick and stone, matched fixture pairs flanking entries, and balanced placements that complement traditional symmetrical façades.
Brentwood lots are urban-scaled. We use lower-output fixtures, careful aiming, and warm color temperatures that fit the home and don't spill onto neighbors. Precision matters more here, not less.
Brentwood's walkable streets mean your lighting is seen by neighbors strolling by. We design glare-free lighting with warm tones and balanced placements that read well at pedestrian distance — fitting the city's tight-knit residential character.
Brentwood has a strong neighborhood character — Maddenfest, the Brentwood Promenade, the tight-knit blocks. Good lighting on one home enhances the street. Our designs respect that. The goal is for your home to look beautifully lit in a way that fits the block.
Many Brentwood homes have been renovated while keeping the original brick architecture. We design hybrid approaches — traditional placements for original architecture, slightly more contemporary fixture styles for updated elements.

The work was fairly priced and the materials and workmanship were excellent. We actually rehired them again for even more lighting features.Posted on Google Bradley FisherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently hired Landscape Lighting Guys to help with my home lighting system, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. I first met Matt while he was preparing a proposal for a large lighting project in our subdivision’s common areas. He took the time to meet with us multiple times, answer questions, and walk through the details of the project. During those meetings, I also had him take a look at my home’s landscape lighting system. Over the years, I had several different companies work on my lighting, and after some recent landscaping work, some wires were cut and pulled out, and fixtures were pulled out of their proper location. My system needed to be reset and repaired. Matt provided a beyond fair and detailed proposal, and his crew got right to work. What impressed me most was that they weren’t interested in taking shortcuts. Tyler and George explained that they could simply reconnect some of the old wiring, but they weren’t comfortable doing that because they couldn’t guarantee the long-term results. Instead, they took the time to trace the system, replace wiring where needed, and correct several issues left behind from previous installations. It was obvious they cared about doing the job correctly rather than just getting it done. The end result is actually better than what I had before. A few simple adjustments to fixture placement and aiming made a huge difference in how the house and landscaping are illuminated at night. The attention to detail was outstanding. Tyler and George were also incredibly professional and friendly throughout the entire process. They cleaned up after themselves, polished the fixtures, answered questions, and treated my property like it was their own. That level of service is hard to find these days. I’m also excited that Matt offers maintenance and service plans. One of the biggest challenges with landscape lighting is finding someone who understands your system and can maintain it properly over time. It’s reassuring to know I now have a trusted company that can keep everything looking great for years to come. If you’re looking for a company that values quality, professionalism, and long-term customer relationships, I highly recommend Matt, Tyler, George, and the entire team at Landscape Lighting Guys.Posted on Google Jeff BerzonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We met Matt many years ago when his business was young. His professionalism and dedications were matched by his crew. Years later we used his Company again, after we moved. We were just as impressed. Their suggestions, especially the Bistro Lights over the patio, were spot on. Another great job, And another round of compliments from our neighbors!Posted on Google Sue AckleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I did quite a bit of talking with several lighting companies in the beginning. Some didn’t show up for an appointment, one didn’t call back when I asked to make some changes to the bid, so I looked for someone who was honest, had integrity, and listened to what I wanted, but had great ideas as well. The Lighten guys fit the bill perfectly. My house lighten was done in the winter, but I knew I would like to add to it as soon as my garden was in full bloom. Matt came out today and again I was so pleased with his ideas! It’s going to be perfect! Thanks bunches Matt! They performed high quality work that they stand behind. I highly recommend them!Posted on Google Julie BuckTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and his team originally designed and installed our landscape lights in 2021. We were thrilled with his expertise on placement of the lights. The end result turned out great. We still get compliments on our lighting. My favorite part is the yearly check and fix of any issues. His team cleans, checks and repairs lights, wires or any other issue each year. Hassle free for us. Highly recommend this company.Posted on Google Ben LloydTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Huge shout out for the entire team at LLG. I can't recommend them enough. The estimating was simple and clear, pricing was fair and competitive.. and I was blown away with the finished product! Whenever my wife comes home with the kids after baseball practice, she always makes the comment how safe she feels and how lit up our house looks! LLG completely changed the dynamic of my home. THANK YOU!!Posted on Google David KannapelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and the team couldn't have been better to work with. They were able to get us quoted, installed, and supported very quickly and professionally. In addition to the hardware and lights looking great, the professionalism has been above and beyond. Would highly recommend!Posted on Google Timothy RohlmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our lights were installed at least 10 years ago and worked fine except we had some trees removed and some were damaged. Those 3 were replaced and all the others (32) were serviced, cleaned and new bulbs. Excellent work thank you.Posted on Google Coco BloomfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Prompt, excellent service! So nice to deal with.
