Extend your evenings outdoors — safely and beautifully.
Deck lighting serves the dual purpose of providing safety on decks and patios while contributing to the overall ambiance of outdoor living areas. It’s one of the most popular residential add-ons in our catalog, often combined with home accent lighting and pathway lighting in a complete property design.
Reduces trip and fall hazards in low-light conditions.
Extends the usable hours of decks and patios into the evening, so you actually use your outdoor space.
Recessed lights and post-cap lights add character to outdoor spaces that flat overhead lighting can't match.
Well-designed deck lighting is part of the broader landscape lighting investment that increases resale value.
Low-profile fixtures provide enough light to be safe and beautiful without overwhelming the deck or your neighbors.
Recessed lights — Flush-mounted into deck steps or floors for a clean, modern look.
Post-cap lights — Mounted on top of railing posts to provide ambient illumination along the perimeter.
Riser lights — Integrated into the vertical face of stairs for safety lighting.
Under-rail accent lights — Mounted beneath railings to wash light down across deck surfaces.
String lights overhead — When the deck includes a pergola or overhead structure (see our String Lighting page).
All deck lighting installations use the same superior-quality, durable fixtures and components that anchor the rest of our portfolio. Brass and powder-coated black aluminum options are available, with the brass standard backed by our lifetime warranty.
Energy-efficient LEDs are used in every fixture to minimize environmental impact and reduce ongoing operating costs. The deck lights stay on as long as you want them to without driving up your power bill.
Most deck lighting installations balance two goals — making the deck safer to use after dark, and making it more beautiful as an extension of the home. Our designs treat both as equally important.
Deck lighting is rarely the only zone homeowners install. We coordinate it with façade lighting, pathway runs, and any string lighting overhead so the entire outdoor environment reads as one coherent design.
Patio lighting (for connected outdoor living spaces), home accent lighting (for façade uplighting that complements the deck), and string lighting (overhead bistro runs above the deck space). We often combine these into a single coordinated phase or split them across an affordable prioritized timeline depending on the client’s budget.
Minimum project value: $650.
Free estimates and written proposals.
1-year free service package included on every new installation.
Lifetime warranty on brass fixtures; 10-year warranty on powder-coated aluminum.
Phased designs available if you want to spread the cost across multiple zones over time.

The work was fairly priced and the materials and workmanship were excellent. We actually rehired them again for even more lighting features.Posted on Google Bradley FisherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently hired Landscape Lighting Guys to help with my home lighting system, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. I first met Matt while he was preparing a proposal for a large lighting project in our subdivision’s common areas. He took the time to meet with us multiple times, answer questions, and walk through the details of the project. During those meetings, I also had him take a look at my home’s landscape lighting system. Over the years, I had several different companies work on my lighting, and after some recent landscaping work, some wires were cut and pulled out, and fixtures were pulled out of their proper location. My system needed to be reset and repaired. Matt provided a beyond fair and detailed proposal, and his crew got right to work. What impressed me most was that they weren’t interested in taking shortcuts. Tyler and George explained that they could simply reconnect some of the old wiring, but they weren’t comfortable doing that because they couldn’t guarantee the long-term results. Instead, they took the time to trace the system, replace wiring where needed, and correct several issues left behind from previous installations. It was obvious they cared about doing the job correctly rather than just getting it done. The end result is actually better than what I had before. A few simple adjustments to fixture placement and aiming made a huge difference in how the house and landscaping are illuminated at night. The attention to detail was outstanding. Tyler and George were also incredibly professional and friendly throughout the entire process. They cleaned up after themselves, polished the fixtures, answered questions, and treated my property like it was their own. That level of service is hard to find these days. I’m also excited that Matt offers maintenance and service plans. One of the biggest challenges with landscape lighting is finding someone who understands your system and can maintain it properly over time. It’s reassuring to know I now have a trusted company that can keep everything looking great for years to come. If you’re looking for a company that values quality, professionalism, and long-term customer relationships, I highly recommend Matt, Tyler, George, and the entire team at Landscape Lighting Guys.Posted on Google Jeff BerzonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We met Matt many years ago when his business was young. His professionalism and dedications were matched by his crew. Years later we used his Company again, after we moved. We were just as impressed. Their suggestions, especially the Bistro Lights over the patio, were spot on. Another great job, And another round of compliments from our neighbors!Posted on Google Sue AckleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I did quite a bit of talking with several lighting companies in the beginning. Some didn’t show up for an appointment, one didn’t call back when I asked to make some changes to the bid, so I looked for someone who was honest, had integrity, and listened to what I wanted, but had great ideas as well. The Lighten guys fit the bill perfectly. My house lighten was done in the winter, but I knew I would like to add to it as soon as my garden was in full bloom. Matt came out today and again I was so pleased with his ideas! It’s going to be perfect! Thanks bunches Matt! They performed high quality work that they stand behind. I highly recommend them!Posted on Google Julie BuckTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and his team originally designed and installed our landscape lights in 2021. We were thrilled with his expertise on placement of the lights. The end result turned out great. We still get compliments on our lighting. My favorite part is the yearly check and fix of any issues. His team cleans, checks and repairs lights, wires or any other issue each year. Hassle free for us. Highly recommend this company.Posted on Google Ben LloydTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Huge shout out for the entire team at LLG. I can't recommend them enough. The estimating was simple and clear, pricing was fair and competitive.. and I was blown away with the finished product! Whenever my wife comes home with the kids after baseball practice, she always makes the comment how safe she feels and how lit up our house looks! LLG completely changed the dynamic of my home. THANK YOU!!Posted on Google David KannapelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and the team couldn't have been better to work with. They were able to get us quoted, installed, and supported very quickly and professionally. In addition to the hardware and lights looking great, the professionalism has been above and beyond. Would highly recommend!Posted on Google Timothy RohlmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our lights were installed at least 10 years ago and worked fine except we had some trees removed and some were damaged. Those 3 were replaced and all the others (32) were serviced, cleaned and new bulbs. Excellent work thank you.Posted on Google Coco BloomfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Prompt, excellent service! So nice to deal with. Yes. We retrofit deck lighting onto existing decks all the time — recessed step lights, post-cap fixtures, under-rail accents. We can usually run wiring without major demolition.
No. We install timers and photocells so the lighting comes on automatically at dusk and turns off at the time you specify.
Yes. All our deck lighting fixtures are weather-rated for outdoor use, including rain, snow, and Saint Louis humidity.
Most deck lighting is intentionally subtle — enough light to navigate steps safely and create ambiance, but not so bright that it overwhelms the space or feels like a porch flood. We design beam angles and lumen output for the specific deck.
Absolutely — that’s one of our most popular combinations. Step lights and post-cap fixtures handle safety and ambient lighting at deck level, while overhead string lighting adds magical canopy ambiance.
Whether you want a clean modern deck lit with recessed step lights, a traditional deck with post-cap fixtures, or a full integrated design with string lighting overhead, we’d love to walk your deck and design something custom. Call (314) 899-9997 or request your free estimate online.
